The Royal prefix was acquired in the early 1880’s, when Queen Victoria patronised shirtmakers H.W. Brettel who occupied unit 12. The Arcade’s royal connection has continued in place, with Charbonnel et Walker holding the Royal Warrant to the late Queen Elizabeth II.\
